Although increased concentration does not necessarily imply restrictive conduct and abuse of market power, it is consistent with anti-competitive practices. Given the large size of the tourism industry and the subsequent potential detriment to the consumer welfare, policymakers must be alert. This chapter studies competition issues that have emerged in the transport for tourism, accommodation and travel distribution sectors following deregulation and liberalisation over the last two decades
